FMCSA Clearinghouse / Return-to-Duty Testing (Step 5)

An RTD test is a DOT-mandated drug test that drivers must pass after a positive test or violation before returning to safety-sensitive work. 

Owner-Operators are required to assign a Consortium/Third-Party Administrator (C/TPA) to manage drug and alcohol testing records, including RTD results. An "Employer" may assign a C/TPA to assist with reporting however it is ultimately the Employers responsibility.
 

Testing and direct reporting can be completed quickly, often the same day, depending on the SAP program completion and test scheduling.
 

Yes. HPC Testing Services can perform your RTD drug test and report it directly to the Clearinghouse to restore your driving status as long as your SAP has updated your Clearinghouse and "Determined Eligible for RTD Testing"

Yes. We guide drivers through the Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) process to ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA requirements. 

 Follow-up testing is a DOT requirement after a positive test or violation. Drivers must complete random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol tests as directed by their SAP to ensure ongoing compliance.

 Follow-up testing is typically required at least six times in the first 12 months, but your SAP may set a longer schedule depending on your situation. 

Yes. We can schedule and perform DOT-compliant follow-up tests and report results directly to the FMCSA Clearinghouse to keep your compliance current if you are an Owner-Operator. 

Missing a follow-up test can result in a “Driver Prohibited” status. It’s essential to complete all required follow-up tests on schedule to remain in compliance.
